My new group at school - owls

Last week was half term.

Before half term, we were learning about planets and stars and the galaxy.

Now, we’re talking about owls.

• My group is barn owls.
• My best friend’s group is tawny owls.
• The other groups are called little owls and eagle owls.

Barn owls look like ghosts as they fly through the moonlight. They screech as well. They don’t just live in barns - they live in churches and buildings and trees.

Tawny owls are the most common owls in England, my book says.

In the year 2 classes at my school, most people like barn owls, I think, and for the least popular, it’s little owls.

Show and Tell

Tomorrow it will be my show and tell and I can’t wait. I will be showing my blog and it will be fantastic when I have done this. It is so exciting!

Halving and doubling

At school my group, Earth, were doing doubling numbers and Mars group were doing halving.

Your could add 4 and 4 - that makes 8.

To double a number, you have to add the same number twice.

If you have a number 6, you have to take away half of it - that is 3.

This is my school project about space.

The Solar System - there are 9 planets (unless you think Pluto is too small.)	The Sun is big. It is a star.

The Inner planets

The Inner Planets - They are the 4 planets nearest to the Sun.

Mars is the red planet. It is the 4th out from the sun.	Earth is the only planet with food.	The moon goes round the Earth.	Venus spins backwards. Its poisonous clouds trap the Sun’s heat.	On Mercury 1 day is 59 Earth days.

The outer planets

Jupiter (it is big.) Jupiter has a red spot.	Saturn has lots of rings.	Uranus rolls on its side!	Neptune has 8 moons.

In September I will be in a new class at school

In September my new class is going to be Kingfishers. My teacher is called Mrs Tong. That is in Year 1.

In September I want to be better at jumping in the air and cartwheels. We do jumping in PE when the mat is near a bench but I don’t know about cartwheels. I want to do some drawing and sometimes going to Dragonflies which is the other Year 1 class. The Dragonfly teacher is my old teacher that I had in Reception (Ducklings). The Dragonfly Class were Goslings in Reception.

I was an angel today

At school, I was an angel today.

We have been practicing for the play for four days. Today, we wore our costumes for the first time.

In the play, our class are all angels. We wear white, gold, yellow and orange costumes.

I am golden fish this week

A few weeks ago, I was Golden Duckling. Someone is Golden Duckling if they say something clever.

This week, I am Golden Fish - someone is Golden Fish if they are helpful.

I am Golden Fish because I am very cheerful every time my teacher does the register.

On Friday, there is going to be a special assembly for mummy and daddy, and the headteacher will read my fish.

[Daddy's note - they write what the chosen child has done on a fish, and stick it up on a board called "Golden Fishes"]

I was Golden Duckling this week

I am in Ducklings class at school. This week, I was the Golden Duckling, because I could think of lots of words that begin with letter “O”.

Because I was Golden Duckling, I wore the special badge all week, and on Friday (today), mummy and daddy came to a special assembly, where the whole school clapped the Golden people.

The words I thought of were, Oscar, Orange, Octopus, Octagon, Often, On and Off.

I made a heart

Today at school I made a heart for daddy. It is blue, yellow and pink. Pink is my favourite colour.

It was my first day at school

It was my first day at my new school, and I was excited this morning. I couldn’t be quiet for most of the time, because I had coughs.

There was a new badge for me, with my name on it. It has a picture of a duckling, because I am in ducklings class.
